7:00 PM - Lyfe Jennings
In 2005, Grammy nominated, platinum selling artist Lyfe Jennings demanded attention when his raspy intro, “aye yo you....,” blanketed the airwaves with his hit, “Must Be Nice” on his debut album Lyfe 268-192.
Layered with stories of street trysts and jail time, he offered a blue-collar perspective on everyday life and love. Jennings soon became a favorite; not just for his raw talent and brassy delivery, but for the unfiltered realism in his lyrics. The musician touched on edgy topics most artists avoided with songs like “She Got Kids,” and “Made Up My Mind.”
Now, with five studio albums under his belt, a host of award nominations and songwriting credits, Jennings hasn't lost his rigid nature and continues to evolve while offering his fans a VIP view of his growth and maturity. Unlike so many artists of this generation, Jennings delivers colorful portrayals of very real life situations in such a relatable way. You can't help but to connect with him.
Sings Lyfe on his recent single, 'Boomerang' “I've learned that breaking a woman's heart is just like throwin' a boomerang, it will come right back to you again....”
The vocalist, piano and guitar player's music is a pure example of depth and conviction as he continues to create a vivid and honest testament of his Lyfe. While contemporary music has been criticized for it's inauthentic display, Jennings uncompromising talent appeals to the learning lover in us all.
